This calculator applies cancellation scoring automatically. Enter the raw points each team earned in a frame — bags on the board and bags in the hole — and the tool works out which side gained ground and by how much, exactly the way cornhole is scored on paper.
How Does Cornhole Scoring Work?
Every bag is worth points based on where it lands, and cancellation scoring decides what actually hits the board.
Cornhole doesn't add both teams' points to the scoreboard separately. Instead, cancellation scoring compares the two totals at the end of every frame and removes the lower total from the higher one — only the difference is awarded.
Team A scores 5 points and Team B scores 3 points. Team A receives 2 points for the frame.
Team B's 3 points cancel out 3 of Team A's 5 — only the difference of 2 is added to the scoreboard.

Can You Go Over the Winning Score in Cornhole?
Yes. In standard play, a team doesn't need to land on the winning score exactly — reaching or passing it at the end of a completed frame is enough to win. Because cancellation scoring can award 1, 2, 3, or more points in a single frame, a team sitting one or two points below the target often finishes above it rather than exactly on it, and the win still counts.
Some house rules and casual formats add a win-by-2 or exact-score requirement, similar to other target-score games. That isn't part of standard cornhole scoring, so it's worth confirming with your opponents before the game starts if you want to play that way.
