About Cornhole Insider
Cornhole Insider is a straightforward resource for everything cornhole — official rules, board dimensions, scoring, bag specifications, equipment and strategy. We built it because the same handful of questions come up for every player, from someone setting up a backyard game for the first time to a league regular checking a tournament rule, and the answers are often scattered or inconsistent.
Search for something as simple as how far apart cornhole boards go and you will find 27 feet, 24 feet and 30 feet on the first page of results, usually with no indication of which rulebook each number comes from or whether it applies to the game you are actually playing. The same happens with bag weight, hole placement, board angle and what counts as a foul. Our answer to that is to publish the specification, name the context it belongs to — regulation, league, backyard, youth — and say plainly where the sanctioning bodies disagree.
Every guide on this site is written to be clear and accurate first, with no unnecessary fluff. We cover the official specifications where they exist, note where recreational play differs, and keep guides updated as rules and equipment change. Where a number has a tolerance, we print the tolerance. Where a rule varies by organization, we say so instead of picking one and presenting it as universal.

Rules and gameplay
The full ruleset, plus the formats that change it: singles, doubles, tournament play, foul rules and the equipment regulations that govern bags. This is where we are strictest about naming the source, because a house rule and a sanctioned rule look identical once they are stripped of context.
Dimensions and setup
Board length, width, hole diameter and placement, front and back height, board angle, and the distance between boards. Every measurement we publish is given in the same units in the same kind of table, so numbers can be compared across pages without conversion.
Scoring
How cancellation scoring works, what a bag in the hole and a bag on the board are worth, how to reach 21, and the tools to keep score — a calculator, a scoreboard and a printable score sheet.
Equipment guides
Boards, bags, complete sets and accessories, sorted by the way people shop for them: regulation, portable, wooden, ACL-approved, sticky, fast, beginner-friendly. Each guide starts from the specification the product has to meet, then compares options against it.
Our Editorial Standards
These are the rules we hold our own pages to. They are published here so you can hold us to them too.
1.Specifications come from the rulebooks
Measurements, weights and tolerances are taken from the published rules of the organizations that set them — principally the American Cornhole League and the American Cornhole Association — not from other websites. When two bodies specify different numbers, we print both and label them rather than averaging them into something that matches neither.
2.Regulation and backyard play are labeled separately
Most people reading a rules page are not playing a sanctioned match. We give the regulation answer first because it is the fixed reference point, then say what changes in casual play — shorter throwing distances, smaller boards, house scoring — so that neither audience has to guess which paragraph applies to them.
3.Recommendations are based on published specifications
Our buying guides compare products on criteria you can verify: dimensions and tolerances, surface material and finish, frame and leg construction, weight, portability, and whether a bag carries a current sanctioning-body approval. We are transparent that we do not lab-test every product we mention, and we do not describe hands-on testing we have not done.
4.Commercial links never change the ranking
Whether a product earns us a commission has no bearing on whether it appears, where it ranks, or what we say about it. Products that fail the specification are still described as failing it. Where we would not recommend anything in a category, we say that instead of filling the slot.
5.Pages are dated, reviewed and corrected
Rules change, sanctioning bodies revise their approved-equipment lists, and products get discontinued. We review our specification and rules pages against the current rulebooks at least once a year, and correct any page as soon as we learn it is wrong — including when a reader tells us.

Cornhole Insider is free to read and reader-supported. Some of the equipment links on this site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy through them — at no extra cost to you. That commission is paid by the retailer out of its own margin; you pay the same price you would pay going direct.
We disclose this at the top of every page that carries a monetized link, not only here and in the footer, and the disclosure sits above the first link rather than below it. It never changes which products we recommend or what we say about them, and we do not accept payment from manufacturers for coverage, placement or a favorable review.
Prices, availability and product specifications change without notice. Always confirm the current details on the retailer's own page before buying, and treat any figure quoted here as accurate at the time of writing.
Contact Us
Email is the only channel we use, and it reaches the person who writes and edits the site. We read everything, and we reply to anything that needs a reply — usually within two to three business days.
Corrections
If a measurement, rule or scoring example on this site is wrong, tell us. Include the page and, where you can, the rulebook or section that says otherwise — that lets us verify and fix it the same day rather than adding it to a queue.
Questions about the rules
If a guide did not answer your question, send it over. Questions that come up more than once get written into the page itself, so asking genuinely improves the site for the next reader.
Manufacturers and retailers
We are happy to hear about products, updated specifications and discontinued lines. To be clear up front: we do not sell placements, sponsored posts, guest posts or links, and correcting a specification is free and does not require a commercial relationship.
