How to Play Doubles Cornhole
Once the boards are down and teams are split across both ends, every frame follows the same six steps.
1.Players Take Their Positions
Each team's two players stand at opposite boards, with an opponent from the other team beside them at each end.
2.Determine the Throwing Order
Flip a coin to decide which team throws first in the opening frame. After that, whichever team scored last throws first in the next one.
3.Alternate Throws
Players throw one bag at a time in rotation, never two in a row from the same team, until every player has thrown all of their bags.

Cornhole Doubles Throwing Order
Player A throws, then Player B, then Player C, then Player D, then back to Player A — the four players cycle through in order, one bag at a time, never letting the same team throw twice in a row. Player A and Player C are teammates standing at opposite boards; Player B and Player D are teammates standing at opposite boards, each paired against a different member of the other team.
In practice, that rotation plays out as two throwing lines running at once, one at each board. At Board A, Player A and Player B alternate throws toward Board B. At the same time, Player C and Player D alternate throws toward Board A. Each player throws one bag, then yields to their opponent at that same board, continuing until both players at that end have thrown all four of their bags.

Doubles uses the same cancellation scoring as every other format of cornhole, just combined across both boards. Add up every bag both of a team's players landed — from Board A and Board B together — then subtract the lower team total from the higher one. Only the difference is added to that team's running score.
Between both boards, Team A's bags total 6 points and Team B's bags total 4 points. Team A receives 2 points for the frame.

How Do You Win Doubles Cornhole?
The first team to reach 21 points at the end of a completed frame wins the game.
Winning Score
Doubles is normally a race to 21. The target has to be hit at the close of a frame rather than the moment a bag drops, so a team sitting on 19 plays the frame out before the win counts. Casual and youth games often shorten the target to 15 or 11.
What Happens If Both Teams Reach the Winning Score?
They can't both get there in the same frame: cancellation hands a frame's points to one side only, so the two totals never climb together. While neither team has reached the target, another frame is thrown, and another, until one of them does.
Does Doubles Cornhole Use Cancellation Scoring?

Cornhole Doubles Foul Rules
The bag has to leave the hand from behind the front edge of the board that player is assigned to, with the player inside the pitcher's box alongside it. Touching or crossing that edge before release makes the throw a foul. The call is made one player at a time: a partner standing at the far board is unaffected by what happens at this end.
Throwing out of turn is also treated as a foul in most formats: if a player throws before their spot in the rotation comes up, that bag can be called dead by the opposing team.
Any foul bag is dead — removed from play immediately and unable to score even if it lands in the hole — but it still counts as one of that player's four throws for the frame.
Playing Doubles Rules With Only Two People
Two of your four players dropped out, and the question is what you have to change. The honest answer is: the positions, and nothing else.
Both players share one end. Without partners there is nobody to post at the far board, so the two of you throw from the same side, walk down the lane together to score the frame, and throw the next one back from the board you just aimed at. The fixed positions and the turn order across two boards described above stop applying.
Everything else survives intact. Four bags each, one bag at a time, cancellation at the end of the frame, 21 at the close of a completed frame, dead bags on a foul. What you lose is the pooling: with one player a side, a frame cancels two individual totals rather than two team totals.
